# P6: Gas network total failure backup plan BT1/BT2

## CO2
This process covers the actions to take in case of total failure of the carbon dioxide (CO2, dioxyde de carbone) gas network due to pipeline infrastructure breakdown.

1. Check the CO2 connection at the back of each incubator and at the connection of the manometer to identify a possible leak.
To do so, use the leak detector spray or the gas leak detector device.

2.	Also investigate the LSRU floors

3.	If a leak can be identified, fix it:

- plug the tubing back
- close the manometer connecting the incubator to the network (see arrow on the following picture): transfer the cells to another incubator

</div>

4. If there no leak is detected, call 5555 and ask them to contact the SIL duty call.

5. Notify the LCSB duty call manager and their backup by email, fill and fill the [Duty call report form](https://ulsurvey.uni.lu/index.php/936567?lang=en)

## N2

This process covers the actions to take in case of total failure of the nitrogen (N2, azote) gas network due to pipeline infrastructure breakdown.
It consists in the rescue of glove boxes and hypoxic incubators by connecting them to bottles of nitrogen.

1. Identify the pipeline infrastructure breakdown:

- Check the “gas bottle exchange record sheet” (Appendix 03) located on the door inside the gas deposit room.
- If the N2 bottles have been changed in the last 48 h, this is indicative of a pipeline infrastructure break down.

2. Check the N2 connection at the back of each glovebox and hypoxic incubator and at the connection of the manometer to identify a possible leak.
To do so, use the leak detector spray or the gas leak detector device.

3. Also investigate the LSRU floors
4. If a leak can be identified, fix it:

- plug the tubing back
- close the manometer, do not transfer the samples

5. If there no leak is detected, call 5555 and ask them to contact the SIL duty call.
6. Notify the LCSB duty call manager and their backup by email, fill and fill the [Duty call report form](https://ulsurvey.uni.lu/index.php/936567?lang=en)
